Canadian Government Employment Resources


Alberni Valley Employment Centre
is operated by Steele O'Neil and Associates and provides employment services and supports to unemployed individuals that reside in the communities of Port Alberni, Ucluelet, Tofino and Bamfield on the West Coast.

Amber Education Services
Operates the Training Support Program (TSP) and offeres services in Parksville, Nanaimo and Duncan.

BladeRunners
Operated by Nanaimo Youth Services Association (NYSA). It is a wage subsidy program designed to provide at-risk youth with construction and trades related opportunities within the construction and trades industry.

The Career Centre
Located in Parksville and provides Employment Assistance Services to individuals that reside in the Parksville/Qualicum area. These include Employment Needs Assessments, Return to Work Action Plan development, Employment Counselling, workshops, case management and the Career Library and Technology Centre.

The Central Vancouver Island Multicultural Society (CVIMS)
Located in Nanaimo and provides employment services, support and education to immigrants and new English learners.

Coast Salish Employment and Training Society (CSETS)
Provides employment related supports, services and training for 22 First Nations and Friendship Centres on Southern Vancouver Island (Duncan and Brentwood Bay).

Community Futures Development Corporation


Cowichan Career Resource Centre (CCRC)
Operated by Global Vocational Services and provides Employment Assistance Services to unemployed individuals that reside in the Duncan/Cowichan Valley area. These include Employment Needs Assessments, Return to Work Action Plan development, Employment Counselling, workshops, a resource centre and case management.

Employ Cowichan
Provides an overview of the employment related services and resources located in the Cowichan Valley.

Employment Navigators
Located in Ladysmith and provides Employment Assistance Services to individuals in Ladysmith and surrounding areas. Services include Employment Needs Assessments, Return to Work Action Plan development, Employment Counselling, workshops, a resource centre and case management.

Ethos Career Management Group Ltd.
Operates the Self Employment Program, Business Works, and the Career Decsion Making program, Experience Works.

Global Vocational Services
Operates the Wage Subsidy Program, which is funded through Service Canada. The Wage Subsidy Program assists unemployed, eligible individuals with gaining on-the-job work experience.

Nanaimo Food Share Society
Located in central Nanaimo and provides programs, workshops and community support that promotes and assists with healthy, affordable food options. They operate the Home Grown Project, which is a Youth Skills Link Program funded through Service Canada, to provide youth with the skills, tools and support they need to gain hands-on work experience in the small scale agriculture, horticulture and local food sectors.

North Island Employment Foundations Society (NIEFS)
Located in Campbell River, Courtenay and Port Hardy and provides Employment Assistance Services to unemployed individuals that reside in those areas.

Nanaimo Youth Services Association (NYSA)
Located in Nanaimo and provides a variety of services to individuals aged 15-30, such as Employment Needs Assessments, Return to Work Action Plan development, Employment Counselling, workshops, a resource centre and case management.

Service Canada
Responsible for providing all Canadians with the tools they need to thrive and prosper in the workplace and community.

Spectrum Job Search Centre
Provides employment programs and services to unemployed individuals that reside in the Greater Victoria area.

Tillicum Haus Native Friendship Centre
Provides employment counselling, career planning and job search support to First Nation people that reside in the Nanaimo area.
